Laboratory Manager Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics, Sherrington Building, Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3PT Full-time, fixed term post until 31 December 2024 *This is a re-advertisement. Previous applicants need not apply.*

Applications are invited for a laboratory manager to join Professor Ana Domingos’ laboratory. The postholder will become a member of the group and have responsibility for insuring the workflow of the laboratory. The post holder will provide assistance to members of the research group, including postdocs, research assistants, technicians, and PhD and project students and reports to Professor Ana Domingos.

Responsibilities will include advising on the layout of equipment within our laboratory areas, and assessing prospective needs in terms of area and items of equipment; overseeing the daily housekeeping of the laboratory and performing tasks including management of lab stocks of all consumables and antibodies. You will also remain up to date with developments in relevant Health and Safety issues to ensure that the laboratory work is conducted safely and the appropriate safety procedures are in place, as you will be responsible, alongside your colleagues, for the biological safety of the laboratory.

In addition, you will be expected to maintain ongoing purchasing and discount structures, and negotiate with suppliers to achieve maximum economies of scale. You will also assist with the financial management of all research grants.

You will be educated to PhD level in a biological science subject and have relevant laboratory experience including working with animal models. You should hold, or have held, a British Personal license. You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with colleagues at all levels and third-party providers. It is essential that you have experience in administrative lab duties including using database systems for sample curation, writing and maintaining version-controlled protocols, using LIMS, handling electronic laboratory records, writing risk assessments and managing consumables stock.

The post is available as soon as possible and will be based in The Department of Physiology Anatomy & Genetics, Sherrington Building, Sherrington Rd, Oxford OX1 3PT.
