Senior Calibration Engineer
Location: Chesterfield
Monday- Friday: 40 hours per week (Fewer hours per week can be negotiated over days between Monday – Friday)
Salary: £40,000 to £50,000
25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays
Working out of our UKAS accredited laboratory based in Chesterfield (No.0783) CTS offers a wide range of calibration tests, including: Dimensional, Electrical, Mass, Force & Torque across many types of instrumentation. We also cover other fields in-house.
We are looking for an experienced calibration engineer to join the team.
The right candidate must have:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience working in a UKAS accredited laboratory.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience working within the field of metrology.
- Understanding of BS ISO 17025.
- Experience in people management with proven ability to lead and manage a team.
- UKAS laboratory supervisory / management experience.
- Experience of producing and managing uncertainty budgets.
- Experience of managing and working to KPI’s.
- Hands on calibration experience in at least one of the following fields: Electrical, Dimensional, Force, Torque, Mass.
- Ability to review and adopt best practice and seek out continuous improvement.
- Excellent skills in training, coaching and mentoring teams to support the laboratory.
- Science Degree in relevant subject is desirable but not essential.
- Relevant training in metrology and calibration activities.
Duties include:
- Responsible to the Calibration Business Unit Manager ensuring that all laboratory activities are carried out expediently, efficiently and safely at all times.
- Day to day responsibility of the running of the laboratory.
- Leadership of the calibration laboratory team.
- Meet deadlines for clients work and assigned tasks.
- To review and look to continuously improve on current practices and efficiencies within the laboratory.
- To build strong working relationships with clients and other sites within the business.
- Drive, promote and support laboratory staff training, development and knowledge.
- Assist as required in expanding the laboratory scope.
- Perform calibrations as required.
- Working with the quality team ensure all regulatory / UKAS laboratory requirements are met.
