Joining the Medical Staffing Team as Medical Staffing Advisor will offer you the opportunity to gain specialist knowledge and experience in a HR field that is unique to the NHS.

The team is responsible for all aspects of HR activity for medical staff including Employee Relations, GMC Revalidation and Workforce Compliance. 

Working within a team of over 20 you will have access to options to work flexibly on a pattern of a "nine day fortnight" and will have the ability to work from home on around 1/3rd of your working shifts. 

Main duties of the job

Within this role you will provide an effective operational HR advice service for doctors in training, Consultant, Staff and Associate Specialist grades and locally employed doctors. This includes oversight of offers of employment and pre-employment check process, processing payroll actions, overseeing absence and advising on Trust policy.

You will be responsible for specified clinical areas and will work with your allocated Recruitment Advisor(s) in the provision of the recruitment for your specific clinical area of responsibility.

Person specification

Qualifications

• Educated to ‘A’ Level or equivalent.
• Able to demonstrate numeracy and literacy skills.
• Typing qualification or equivalent experience.
• CIPD qualification or willing to undertake CIPD or HR module training.

Experience

• Experience of working in an operational team in a busy office environment.
• Experience of effective communication in difficult circumstances.
• Previous Recruitment and HR experience.
• Previous experience of administration of Right to Work and Disclosure and Barring checks.
• Experience of dealing with complaints, both formal and informal.
• Previous experience of working in NHS.
• Previous experience of working with NHS Jobs/ESR/TRAC/Allocate.
• Previous experience of administration within a Medical Staffing setting in the NHS.

Knowledge

• Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection processes and procedures.
• Knowledge of current NHS issues.
• Good working knowledge of office procedures and all Microsoft office packages.
• Knowledge of requirements of pre-employment checks including Right to Work and Disclosure and Barring checks.
• Knowledge of medical staffing practices and procedures and a working knowledge of the medical structures within a hospital setting.
• A working knowledge of employment law and immigration.
• An understanding of the Terms and Conditions of Service for NHS Doctors and Dentists in Training (England) 2016.
• An understanding of Terms and Conditions of other medical grades i.e Consultant and SAS doctors.
