What you will do
Manages environmental, health and safety policies; develops procedures (chemical safety, ergonomics, illness and injury prevention, and building safety) used throughout the company. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to environmental safety and handles all contact with appropriate agencies. Oversees licensed hazardous and radioactive waste disposal and monitors waste handling. Develops and oversees company training programs for employees in areas such as compliance training, lab/plant inspection, hazardous material handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene, and life safety. May be the point of contact for emergency personnel and manage workers compensation program administration.
What you need
- 8+ years of work experience required
- 6+ years of directing large Environment Health and Safety Programs.
- Expert knowledge of global EHS regulations & ISO certifications, EHS Management systems and current trends in EHS Culture
- Business acumen / high level of market awareness and customer sensitivity.
- Outstanding leadership and ability to gain trust and influence at all levels, as well as collaboration.
- Become the link between FM functions and Commercial Business
- Strong compliance orientation focusing on end-to-end local/regional EHS process management.
Preferred Requirements
- Advanced degree in management or EHS technical field
- Certifications in EHS (e.g., CSP, CIH) preferred and Six Sigma a plus.
- Experience with leading international environmental compliance and safety performance programs at commercial offices and clinical settings.
- Accident/Incident investigation and analysis skills and experience.
- Experience conducting EH&S assessments/audits in commercial offices.
- Ability to respond to EH&S incidents to appropriately support incident investigations and action reporting.
- Ability to implement an EH&S lessons learned program and communicate lessons to Stryker EH&S representatives.
