Summary of the Role

You will be a dynamic and highly motivated teacher who is committed to achieving academic excellence and high classroom standards. The successful candidate will be able to teach English across all secondary age groups, with experience teaching GCSE and A Levels preferable, as well as being committed to ensuring the highest standards of learning, teaching and achievement for pupils. You will be a highly committed individual, who demonstrates high levels of resilience and emotional intelligence. You will be passionate about your subject and have a resolve to make a real difference to pupils’ lives. You will be able to plan and deliver interesting and stimulating lessons, setting a level of challenge for all abilities across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. Your potential is as important as your experience. English and literacy is central to our students’ development as good skills and qualifications in these areas open doors to future success that may not be possible otherwise. We are a team of dynamic, innovative and child centered practitioners who are looking for people who are as dedicated as us to join the team.

The ideal candidate will bring all or most of the following:

Qualifications:

·        A relevant, good degree and teaching qualification

·        Qualified Teacher Status

·        Evidence of professional development relevant to the role

·        Current enhanced DBS

·        Further relevant qualifications

Experience:

·        Teaching A Level English and GCSE English (preferable).

·        Teaching English to Key Stage 3.

·        Evidence of successful examination results

·        Working with pupils with additional needs

·        Working with pupils with Dyslexia

·        Form Tutor

Skills:

·        An excellent classroom practitioner

·        Good communication and interpersonal skills

·        Ability to prioritise workloads and to be well organised

·        Ability to promote the school’s aims and ethos positively and effectively

·        An understanding of a range of pedagogical approaches

Personal attributes:

·        Ability to inspire, challenge and motivate both pupils and colleagues

·        A commitment to extra-curricular activities in school and the wider curriculum

·        Independence and ability to work as part of a team

·        Flexible with an excellent work ethic

·        A sense of humour and a positive ‘can do’ attitude

Above all, the successful candidate will put children at the heart of everything that they do, and be willing to engage with the school as a learning community, establishing and fostering links with parents, colleagues, external stakeholders and the local community.

Safeguarding

The post-holder is responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people for whom they are responsible, or with whom they come into contact, and will adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Safeguarding (Child Protection) Policy at all times.  If in the course of carrying out the duties of the post the post-holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School s/he must report any concerns to the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead or to the Headteacher.
