Job description
Warrington Borough council are looking for a Regulatory Compliance Officer to support our team with routine food hygiene work. The suitable candidate would be required to undertake a full range of food hygiene inspections in line with the food law code of practice. The candidate would also undertake food standards inspections where appropriate.
- The post holder must carry out the duties with full regard to the Council’s Corporate Plan, the Corporate Equality and Diversity Policy, Health and Safety Policy and Social Inclusion Strategy.
- To visit, inspect and report on premises of the Borough where food safety legislation applies and to record visits appropriately on the Council’s database.
- To investigate complaints and monitor all types of works in progress at relevant premises.
- To offer business advice, guidance and support to encourage compliance, including where necessary instigating formal action.
- To carry out as necessary, duties outside normal working hours
- A commitment to public service, Local Government and the Borough Council, with the ability to form effective working relationships with staff at all levels in the Borough Council and outside organisations.
- The post holder will be responsible for providing an excellent level of customer care and be able to resolve all enquiries from customers using highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- The post holder will participate in compliance and enforcement work and be able to identify contraventions and secure compliance including providing appropriate advice, undertaking revisits, escalating issues to managers appropriately and obtaining, recording and presenting evidence where required.
- The post holder will have the ability to build, maintain and apply a relevant understanding of legislation and apply it, including an understanding of the role of other enforcement partners.
- The post holder will have the ability to carry out formal interventions and interviews and have the ability, knowledge and confidence to give evidence in court.
- The post holder will hold Environmental Health Registration Board registration or Chartered Status at the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health or equivalent qualification that will enable them to undertake the full range of food hygiene interventions identified in the Food Law Code of Practice
