Position: Dental Practice Manager & Lead Dental Receptionist
Location: Rugeley, Staffordshire

Job Opportunity: We are in search of a driven individual who is eager to grow with us as we embark on this new phase. As Dental Practice Manager and Lead Dental Receptionist, you will play a pivotal role in steering the day-to-day operations of our practice. You should possess the confidence to lead the reception team, operate autonomously, and exhibit problem-solving prowess. You will serve as a role model for our junior staff.
Additionally, this role encompasses the management of a team of nurses and dentists, ensuring that our practice not only meets but exceeds the expectations of our patients and complies with regulatory bodies such as the CQC and PCT.
Key Responsibilities:
Reception and Administrative Duties:
- Lead reception and oversee receptionist responsibilities.
- Handle payments, manage diaries, conduct daily and weekly cash reconciliations, and maintain meticulous records.
- Organize staff, including scheduling, hours, holidays, training, marketing, and team building.
- Ensure practice compliance and provide necessary training.
- Maintain up-to-date logs and ensure the proper organization of surgery documentation.
- Offer support to the practice owner.
- Demonstrate effective staff management skills.
- Manage day-to-day surgery tasks.
- Foster efficient ordering and stock control while managing costs and daily staffing needs.
- Guarantee the seamless operation of the practice.
- Conduct regular monthly audits as required.
- Manage dentist performance and UDA targets.
- Undertake some Treatment Coordination (TCO) and marketing activities.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong leadership abilities, professionalism, and the capacity to serve as a role model for junior staff.
- Experience in compliance work, as mandated by the CQC and internal quality control.
- Impeccable time management and attendance record.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and email (experience with SOE Exact is a plus).
- Cash handling skills, including till and card machine reconciliation.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills.
- Trustworthiness and the ability to work both independently and under the guidance of the surgery owner.
- Proven track record of accurate data entry, staff management, and compliance activities.
- Ability to work within time constraints, multitask effectively, and maximize existing staff resources to ensure smooth practice operations.
- Competence in conducting audits, maintaining logs, and keeping surgery policies current (Dental Compliance experience is beneficial).
- Staff management expertise, encompassing rota management, training, and staff performance.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of daily cash handling and reconciliation, including back-end reconciliation and banking.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding front-of-house and customer service skills.
- Experience in compliance activities, including audits, completing and checking surgery check sheets, and effective leadership.
Additional Information:
- Applicants should include their current pay details, as the pay rate is negotiable based on experience and skills.
- This position is permanent and full-time, subject to an initial trial period of 4 months.
- Applicants must be prepared to undergo a new DBS/CRB check and provide two recent references.
- The Manager will receive support from the owner and have access to paid CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and a subscription to Agilio CPD.

- Monday: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM
- Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM
- Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM
- Thursday: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
- Friday: 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
- Total hours: 37.5 hours per week
