Job Role: Building Surveyor

Blue Arrow are pleased to announce that we are working with a Housing Association that are looking for Technical Building Surveyor in the Nottingham area as they are seeing an increase in workload and now have the requirement for further staff.

Salary: £19.87 - £21.53 p/h
Start date: ASAP
Hours and days of work: 37 hours a week, 5 days
Hybrid working - minimum 2-3 days on-site per week
Monday to Friday - 8:30am - 16:50pm
Contract Length: Minimum of 3months
Location: Nottingham City
Driving License required: Yes

What will you be doing in the Technical Building Surveyor?

To effectively plan and deliver Technical Building Surveying services in the planning, maintenance, improvement and investment in the clients managed housing stock ensuring that value for money is
delivered through all projects and to effectively target available resources and technologies to achieve the organisation's performance indicators.

The post holder to be responsible to the Technical Project Manager/Disrepair Manager in the delivery of building and condition surveys, and project management services for the procurement and delivery of compliance related building alteration, demolition, refurbishments and capital work packages, ensuring all property related statutory, regulatory and corporate requirements are met.

The position will play a pivotal role in the management of capital projects and disrepair works acting as the clients representative on building sites, ensuring a consistently high standard of quality control and supervision is maintained for each building project assessing contract implementation in regards to building and health and safety legislation.

What experience and knowledge is required for the Technical Building Surveyor role?

* Strong knowledge of building construction, defect diagnosis and building pathology, including construction methods, building standards and how they are applied.
* Experience of supporting the successful delivery of capital projects and third-party contracts using project administrative principle and standard forms of methodology.
* Experience of preparing project plans, work programmes, monitoring achievements and performance indicators.
* Knowledge of legislation affecting building operations, e.g. British Standards, Approved Codes of Practice, Building and Planning Regulations, standard forms of building contract, CDM regulations, and relevant Health and Safety legislation, and other construction-based legislation.

What skills are required for the Technical Building Surveyor role?

* Proven ability of carrying out accurate site and desk surveys, calculations and producing drawings, quotations, preparing and monitoring budgets and estimates for construction or maintenance work.
* Ability to present technical information in a clear and concise manner to a diverse range of individuals and external stakeholders using a wide range of methods.
* Ability to use IT software such as Microsoft Office packages.
* An ability to use Computer Design Software to produce drawings.
* Good interpersonal skills and a proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels both verbally and in writing.
* Able to use computer-based systems and other administrative to maintain systems and records.
* Current valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.

What qualifications are required for the Technical Building Surveyor role?

* Degree in Building Surveying or HND/HNC level qualification in a building construction related field or track experience.
* Professional Qualification, i.e. RICS, CIOB, CABE or equivalent /or working towards
* Evidence of continued professional development.
