SENNIES is excited to help a family near Bath find a caring SEN nanny for their 14 and 12-year-old boys. The role includes supporting B14 with his homeschooling programme, taking him to hyperbaric therapy, as well as going to his gym, music and art therapy sessions. The family will support the Sennie in B14’s communication and behavioural management techniques The family is fortunate to have access to excellent support for their neurodivergent family, and they hope to find a nurturing Sennie/Buddy who can help their children thrive in their beautiful, rural home. The Sennie will primarily be responsible for B14. The ideal candidate should have their own car due to the rural location, but a car will be provided for any outings.
Essential Skills/Traits:
? 2+ years of experience supporting a child/teen with Autism
? Prior experience or familiar with ABA and able to understand principles and liaise with the family’s ABA consultant
? Prior experience with non/pre-verbal communicators
? Physically fit and enjoys outdoor activities and swimming
? Great sense of humour and willingness to muck in with B14!
? Ability to learn and implement therapy programs and record data efficiently
? Experience with emotional dysregulation and supporting behaviours that challenge
? Calm, kind and patient with a caring and compassionate approach
? Clean driving licence
? Genuine interest in SEN childcare/education and the educational support B14 is receiving
? Open to supporting the family overseas on holiday once per year
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
? Assist with B14’s homeschooling and leisure time: Attend sports and leisure activities such as scouts, swimming, and horse riding
? Tutoring for educational support
? Behavioural support and management
? Record data, implement strategies and/or therapies
? Improve B14’s use of his augmentative communication app (on his iPad)
? Provide practical and personal help
? Creating visual aids (timetables, meal plans etc.)
? Bathtime and bedtime routine, as well as support with personal care
? Occasional overnight care required
? Bring forward any key areas for development
? Keep the children’s calendars organised/up to date
? Engage children in their preferred activities;
? Help the children build independence
