Position Information Coonabarabran High School is a comprehensive school (Years 7- 12) with an enrolment of 320 students.  Approximately 27% of the students are from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background. Our school is set in a picturesque environment in a rural town of approximately 3,000 residents. The Warrumbungle National Park is close by. We have a strong tradition of academic excellence and offer a broad curriculum to cater for the needs and interests of our students. The school has an experienced English Faculty, who have been recognised for their leadership throughout the region. The success of the school relies on teamwork and the commitment by all staff to develop and maintain productive links with all members of the school community.

Specific Selection Criteria

  1. Approval to teach: ENG - English ( 7-10) and ESG - English ( 11-12)
  2. Demonstrated ability to create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment to engage and support a diverse range of students.
  3. Proven ability to adopt a collaborative and flexible approach when designing, implementing and evaluating learning experiences.
  4. Highly developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and community. 
  5. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department of Education’s Aboriginal Educational Policies and capacity to improve outcomes for Aboriginal students.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
