Our client provides care services in the home to the frail & elderly, disabled and those with learning difficulties; as well as to care homes. You will be responsible for the overall co-ordination and day-to-day management of care schedules and care plans with the main focus on the interests of the service users.
The Role:
Ensure packages are sourced, whether through social services, or private referrals, recruiting new staff to meet the demand for packages, as well as ensuring training and procedures and policies is in place.
Co-ordinate, plan and manage complex staff rotas, ensuring adequate staff cover.
Provision of on-call service outside normal working hours and maintain a detailed log of all on-call activity.
Prepared to go out on care calls when required whether as part of a package or in an emergency
The monitoring and implementation of service standards for the company.
Monitor the quality of services provided and contribute to a range of comprehensive Quality Assurance and performance measures.
Maintain the roster, holiday schedule and billing for the payroll and accounting systems, ensuring they are up-to-date from an administrative, operational and billing point of view. Implement as much automation as possible to the smooth running of the operations, including carers’ availability to undertake shifts.
Ensure adequate recruitment and retention processes are in place to meet the anticipated needs of the operations, recruit and train prospective carers, interview staff, ensure all documentation is in place and staff files are accurate and up-to-date. Track the progress of all prospective applicants from initial call onwards. Achieve a smooth and professional application process through to the staff on-boarding process.
To co-ordinate the carer team by providing line management support and supervision. Provide support also through timely provision of details of care and directions for travel to service users’ home, payslips and other information as required
To monitor overall staffing levels and to recruit and motivate staff, ensuring an appropriate skill mix within the team. Ensure all supervision targets, e.g. spot checks, one-to-one meetings, etc are met.
Deal with company pool car issues as required – this may include ensuring all documentation is up-to-date, including MOT, service, insurance, car tax, drivers’ licence, sign-in/sign-out/mileage log, etc.
Ensure that staff act in accordance within statutory requirements, as well as company policies and procedures.
Identify team developmental and training needs and oversee the provision of training as required. Manage the skills list.
Develop own skills and knowledge by attending supervision, training and meetings as required.
Ensure that work undertaken is conducted in a manner which is safe to staff and service user.

Skills and Experience:
A good working knowledge of care standards in domiciliary care
A good working knowledge of health & safety issues
Customer care experience
