A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a pension specialist to join our Global Total Rewards team in a newly created position. There will be a strong focus on the UK with 7 Defined Benefit schemes and a DC Master Trust as well as the opportunity to be involved in the ongoing strategy and governance of other non-US pension arrangements globally. You will also support M&A activity including diligence and planning for the integration of retirement benefits.
This team is based out of our Inchinnan, UK office, ideally candidate will be available to be on site 2 days per week to work collaboratively with he team.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Senior Director Global Retirement to ensure the highest standards of governance and deliver the strategy across our global retirement plans, outside of the US
- Support the relationship with various external advisors to deliver the UK pension strategy across our 7 DB schemes
- Support the governance of our UK DC Master Trust
- Provide support for US and UK GAAP reporting and pension audits
- Coordinate input for our Global Governance and Pension Committee reporting outside of the US
- Provide expertise to internal partners including finance, HR and colleague services on retirement related issues
- Provide analytical support for M&A integration planning, new plan design, legislative changes and other retirement related changes that need to be assessed
- Be responsible for vendor management including budgeting and timely payment of invoices
- Ability to effectively manage a diverse set of projects and always apply Thermo Fisher’s ‘4i Values’.
Qualifications:
- Good understanding of the UK pension landscape and expertise in running both DB and DC arrangements
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with an actuarial or financial background preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and build good relationships with advisors, global colleagues and other partners
- Strong project management skills and the ability to work on exciting projects running concurrently
- Global experience is beneficial but not essential, provided there is a willingness and ability to learn new jurisdictions
