JOB DESCRIPTION Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a 64 year old gentleman living within the Llantwit Major area with my mother. I am partially sighted and have learning disabilities. I also suffer from epilepsy although any seizures are very rare nowadays thanks to medication. I am seeking a PA to support me out in the community as I like going for walks and like going and looking around local shops and stopping off for a cup of tea and a bite to eat. I also need a PA to take me to and pick me up from a café in Barry Waterfront where I volunteer for 4 hours on a Thursday. I need support to access my local community; I enjoy doing things such as my weekly food shop for my mother and me. I also like to attend different cafes. The direct payments is to encourage my independence and to build my confidence out in the community. PURPOSE OF THE JOB Shopping and support with accessing the community and local areas on a Tuesday and taking me to and from a café in Barry Waterfront where I volunteer. In addition to and from medical and other appointments as required. HOURS OF WORK 2-3 Hours Tuesday 2 Hours Thursday – 9.30-10.30 & 13.30-14.30. RATES OF PAY £13.50 per hour plus mileage. TASKS CAN INCLUDE • Support me out in my local community. • Promote my independence • Promote my living skills • Support me with personal care. TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED • Patient, kind and friendly. • Energetic, outgoing and easy to get along with. • Good communication skills • Confident • Understanding • Compassionate ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid on a 4 weekly basis and appropriate holiday pay given. The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority). The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UKJob tags
