Headteacher

Children's Hospital School at Great Ormond Street and UCH

Location

Camden, Greater London | United Kingdom

Job description

After thirteen years of dedicated service, our current Headteacher is moving on to new opportunities, offering a unique and exciting prospect to lead the Hospital School.

At the forefront of educational provision for acutely and chronically unwell children and young people, our school operates across both Great Ormond Street, the world-renowned children’s hospital, and University College London Hospital, one of London’s leading teaching hospitals. Recently awarded its fifth consecutive Outstanding judgment, the school stands as a testament to unwavering quality of provision.

We are seeking an inspiring individual with the confidence and capability to build on our school's legacy, fostering innovation and pioneering ways to enhance education accessibility and engagement, someone who shares our vision, values, and passion for providing an exceptional education and who understands what is needed to be effective in our unique and challenging setting. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and accomplished leader, demonstrating vision, drive, strong relationship-building skills, and an ability to engage with a diverse range of people.

Candidates are warmly encouraged to visit the school on Friday 15 March at 3.45 pm, Wednesday 20 March at 8.45 am, or Monday 25 March at 8.45 am. The Headteacher and a Governor will be available during these visits. To arrange, please email the School Business Manager, Supriya Gureja, at [email protected].

Applications are welcome from existing Headteachers and experienced Deputy Headteachers who share our values. Please complete the school’s application form and submit it to [email protected] by noon on Wednesday 3 April 2024.

For exceptionally experienced and capable candidates, the governing body would consider a salary offer beyond the stated range.

Sam White of ASCL’s Leadership Appointment Service is supporting this process. For additional information or an informal conversation about the role email Sam on [email protected].

The Children’s Hospital School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are made subject to a completed application form, satisfactory references, and an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Please be aware that social media and public media checks will be carried out for applicants prior to interview.

Important Dates:

·      Deadline for applications: Noon on Wednesday 3 April 2024.

·      Shortlisted candidates informed by Thursday 11 April 2024.

·      Interviews on Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 April 2024.
