The Hamilton International School (THIS) is one of Doha’s premier schools and opened in 2019, with the Secondary School opening in 2020. Due to the promotion of the current post holder, we offer a unique opportunity for an Assistant Head: Middle School to join our team in August 2024. Position Overview

As the Assistant Head: Middle School you will provide professional, highly effective leadership and management that will achieve outstanding results within the Middle School. The Assistant Head: Middle School will support, develop and empower the Middle School, including Pastoral Leaders, Teachers, Parents and Students. Under the direction of the Head of Secondary, the Assistant Head: Middle School will work alongside the Assistant Head: High School, and will take a crucial role supporting curriculum development, teaching and assessment practices and student achievement. The Assistant Head: Middle School, will be a proactive member of the Leadership Team, supporting Hamilton to be the school of choice for families in Doha.

Key Duties and Areas of Responsibility

· With the support of the Head of Secondary, the Assistant Head: Middle School will lead the day-to-day management of the Middle School, administer and supervise systems and routines to ensure the efficient operation of this section of the school

· To ensure that the operation of the Middle School reflects the whole school’s philosophy and to ensure that the school’s mission is implemented

· To collaborate with the Head of Secondary to develop and implement innovative curriculum and instructional practices in the Middle School

· To lead data analysis, pupil progress, assessment, tracking and reporting within the Middle School

· To support the implementation of student support programs and interventions in the Middle School to meet the diverse needs of our students

· To provide professional leadership for the Middle School, ensuring the highest possible quality of education for students

· To promote a positive and professional learning culture, that celebrates diversity and promotes student and staff well-being

· To engage with parents and the broader community to build strong partnerships and support student success

· To support the production of a timetable which reflects the needs of the students, and which takes account of staff strengths, skills and reasonable requests in the Secondary School, and which articulates with the timetables in the other sections of the school

· To support the continuous growth of a school which opened in August 2019, building on the excellent reputation it has established within Qatar

· To carry out the DDSL role (Designated Deputy Safeguarding Lead) within the Secondary School

· To ensure the Middle School complies with MOEHE regulations

· To contribute to the development and implementation of strategic action plans, policies and whole school documentation

Criminal Background Checks

All successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory Criminal Background Checks covering the 10 years prior to their start date with the school; this will cover all countries of residence during that period.

The Hamilton International School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including reference checks with previous employers and criminal record checks. A minimum of 2 years leadership experience is required, preferably with experience of the US Common Core, the International Baccalaureate or the UK National Curriculum. This role is not suitable for NQT’s.
