Join us, and Swindon will be better with you.This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planner to join our Development Management Team in a key role supporting the Council to manage a diverse caseload of planning applications including complex and major residential and commercial developments.

We have ongoing investment of over one billion pounds in town centre regeneration, and 12,000 new homes provided for in strategic new communities to the north, south and east of the town.
Your next role
We are looking to appoint a qualified (eligibility or membership of the RTPI), experienced, skilled and highly motivated individual to help us deliver well-managed and high quality development in the Borough. This role provides a great opportunity for a dynamic individual with a ‘can do’ attitude to be part of a strong, dynamic team, working collaboratively on exciting projects and developments with colleagues across the Council, partner organisations and developers. The postholder will provide support on all aspects of the development management process including pre-applications, applications and appeals.
Development Management experience is essential and familiarity of major developments is desirable. An ability to travel throughout the Borough to undertake site visits is essential and candidates must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act – for the effective performance of a customer-facing role).
We feel a work life balance is important for our team members. As such Swindon operates flexible working and you will have the opportunity to work from home. The working hours and pattern for this role are also negotiable.
