Our client is a large multinational and one of the world’s leading building products businesses. Formed over 100 years ago, the business is now a multi-billion turnover organisation that has over 100 production sites around the world.

The Group has been developing and diversifying their business within building products and materials, and today is a key player in the construction sector worldwide.

We are working with the UK business, a circa £50m turnover business unit across 3 sites. They are looking to appoint an experienced Operations and Supply Chain Director to lead some fundamental areas the business.

THE ROLE – OPERATIONS AND SUPPLY CHAIN DIRECTOR

This is a key strategic appointment for the business as the company continues to grow organically as well as through strategic acquisitions. The Operations and Supply Chain Director will report to the UK MD and be responsible for the operational performance of the two business units, whilst optimizing the company’s supply chain activities. He/she will drive operational improvements across the two business units and profitability. The role will oversee operations, production, H&S, supply chain, logistics, warehousing, distribution, and lead successful supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities

To lead, develop and drive operational improvements for the business. Responsible for the delivery of the operational and H&S strategy, managing and developing the team, whilst meeting operational KPI’s in line the business strategy. 

Bring dynamic operational leadership to the business. To be innovative and brave, to challenge traditional thinking.
Provide strong leadership and establish credibility as a business leader within the UK business and more broadly to ensure execution of current business plans and budgets Formulate and manage the operational strategy ensuring that the business has appropriate infrastructure and platform to support future business growth Overall responsibility for the coordinating of Supply Chain activities across the site in accordance with company goals/objectives, reporting Supply Chain activities to senior management team ensuring accurate and timely reporting of KPI’s Create and implement best practice Supply Chain vision, processes, procedures, strategy, and policy to assist and improve business performance, ensuring strong communication between teams to facilitate exchange of information in order to implement change and improvements
Optimise the Cost Efficiencies, Value for Money and Added Value of the complete Supply Chain to the Business Objectives and the Customer’s Perceived Value of our offered products and solutions.
Lead, promote and maintain Health/Safety and Quality standards, maintaining employee safety and morale by creating a safe/efficient working culture that ensures zero tolerance.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance
Ensure strategies/processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets contributing to overall business strategy and annual budget process
Implement a customer focused operational culture delivering world class customer service
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Candidates will have exceptional operational leadership skills and a successful track record of operating in a leadership position for a comparably sized business in a relevant industry. 

Candidates’ experience will also include:

Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliers In depth understanding of Supply Chain Process Optimisation and – Management Methodologies, with a proven track record of structured Value Chain Optimisation, possibly complemented by external certification/training/accreditation levels on such The ability to combine high attention to detail with a high level of inductive reasoning leading to a proven track record of Data Driven Decision Making Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities Commercially and financially astute with experience of managing budgets Demonstrated application of manufacturing excellence through methods such as sixth sigma/lean
