Job description
This role is for one of the biggest engineering consultancies, they are currently looking for an experienced SCADA / C&I Engineer to join their growing team on a permanent basis to support the delivery of numerous projects all across the UK and internationally. This role is mainly located in Epsom.
Job Description:
Some of the main responsibilities for this role include:
- Design and definition of SCADA and C&I based systems, from feasibility design through to assisting with tender preparation for detailed system design and supporting the construction phase working within a multi discipline engineering team and having a general appreciation of other disciplines constraints and requirements.
- Produce technical documents and data in accordance with relevant design codes and standards ensuring the proposed design satisfies all operational and safety requirements.
- Produce installation details, system schematics, detailed equipment schedules indicating all devices and their key functional criteria and performance specifications.
- Review contractor technical queries and resolve issues with client engineering management teams.
- Review and comment on contractor technical submissions.
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary design team.
- Work in partnership with the company to add value to building services projects where appropriate.
- Representing our client at meetings with clients and contractors.
- Site surveys, inspections and monitoring of site works.
- Managing own workload and elements of project delivery.
- Report writing, maintaining records and archives to company standards.
- Assist with the mentoring and development of junior staff.
- Keep up to date with latest technology developments.
- Helping to develop internal technical standards, documentation, and specifications.
- To assist the wider team based on project workloads, including across the SCADA and C&I discipline where required.
Requirements
- Degree qualified, or equivalent qualification in a SCADA/C&I related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status with a relevant institution or be working towards Chartership.
- Experience working on projects across a number of their focus markets (Aviation, Defence, Energy, Cities and Development, Education, Rail and Water).
- A background of working in an engineering consultancy, including an understanding of RIBA / BSRIA design stages, working as part of a wider multi-disciplinary design team.
- Practical experience of working on site, including familiarity with the installation and commissioning stages of the project for SCADA / C&I systems and their supporting ancillaries (such as networks, containment, power etc.).
- Ability to manage packages of work, taking charge of own deliverables and the deliverables of others to successfully meet project deadlines.
- Excellent report writing ability, with experience of writing specifications of varying detail to align with the requirements of the RIBA stages.
- Experience of working in a client-facing role, presenting their designs and leading discussions on behalf of the SCADA / C&I discipline.
- Able to act on their own initiative, solving problems on projects and building relationships across the wider team and practice.
- Experience of digital engineering technologies / Building Information Management (BIM), the ability to use key software packages such as Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD would be desirable.
- Experience in the generation of PLC system specifications.
- Experience in the generation of SCADA system specifications.
- Experience in control system hardware design.
- P&I drawing annotation.
- Specification of instrumentation.
- Cabling design, BCDs, routing, cable schedules.
- Interface management and co-ordination of package plant.
- Alarm systems, both hard wired and software driven.
- Radio communication systems.
- Design of hard-wired safety interlocking systems in compliance with BS EN 61508.
- Experience of SIL demonstration (Design Substantiation).
