The Role:
Working as part of the Materials team, the Fabric Technologist will support the Product Department with the sourcing, development and production of premium quality fabrics and materials, on time and in line with the agreed strategy for each product and category, ensuring maximised profit margins and adhering to the brand and quality standards throughout.
Working across multiple product and fabric categories, the Fabric Technologist will deliver compelling and innovative fabrics and materials, driving product aesthetics to the highest level while retaining commercial viability and required performance attributes.
The Fabric Technologist will focus on fabric development, assist in the research and organization of special projects, This role will also contribute to drive the materials elements of the compliance and sustainability goals and targets.
The Fabric Technologist will play a key role in building strong relationships between the Product Department and the fabric and materials suppliers, ensuring that standards and specifications are understood and executable and all development and production deadlines are met on time and in full. The Fabric Technologist will work closely across the Product team, to ensure that expected quality standards and deadlines are upheld from concept throughout production to delivery.

Responsibilities
Responsible for own fabric development across multiple categories: waterproof, insulation, fleece, jersey and technical wovens
Understanding of technical and performance fabrics and finishes plus techniques such as print is a ‘must have’!
Responsible for following materials from ideation, development, commercialisation and production
Responsible for initial costing to hit required margin targets
Must understand fabric testing requirements and standards and have experience problem solving if issues are found
Strong communication skills to work with mills in EU and Asia
Knowledge and experience of sustainability a benefit
