Job description

The GMMH Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care team are seeking to appoint a part time band 6 Mental Health Chaplain - female.

We are looking to appoint a chaplain with established mental health experience who can demonstrate considerable pastoral skills, and a proven commitment to collaborative multi-cultural and belief working and a willingness to minister specialist spiritual care to all people irrespective of their religion or belief. We are seeking a chaplain with flair to work alongside a variety of health care professionals across busy inpatient units and community settings.

To identify and make provision as part of the Chaplaincy & Spiritual Care Team for the pastoral, emotional, spiritual, and religious needs of service users, carers, and staff irrespective of religion or belief but with respect for inclusion, equality, and diversity at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. To undertake this role with specific responsibilities at our Salford Inpatient unit, Meadowbrook, Woodlands Later Life unit and Prescott House Community Mental health team. Note - work locations are always subject to revision, including gender specific (female) referrals across GMMH.

The post is for 22.5 hours a week. The successful candidate will be based in Salford inpatient and community settings and will be responding to trust wide referrals upon request for a female chaplain. This is an exciting opportunity for a chaplain who has existing experience in Mental Health Chaplaincy and/or can demonstrate the required substantial experience of working in a challenging mental health inpatient/community context in the delivery of pastoral, spiritual, and religious, care to a cohort of service users, carers, and staff. The nature of the post also requires the successful candidate to be able to demonstrate their ability to be at ease with independent ‘autonomous’ working.

Due to identified occupational requirements this post holder will need to be female, as is ‘Permitted under Section 11, part (a) of the Equality Act 2010’.

The successful candidate will need to be appropriately authorised by their accrediting faith/belief body.

Other salaried allowances in relation to this post: Fixed Local Recruitment & Retention premium pro rata.

The chaplaincy and spiritual care team at GMMH offers a very collegiate, supportive and nurturing working environment. Pastoral Supervision is central to our team ethos.
