Job description


As Deputy Director of Specialised Commissioning – Mental Health, Learning Disability and Autism (including High Secure), the post holder will lead and work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the specialised commissioning teams leading on the direct and collaborative commissioning of mental health, learning disability and autism services and contracting with providers for the provision of high quality prescribed list of specialised services across the Midlands region.

The post holder will have accountability and responsibility for the strategic and operational development of the mental health, learning disability and autism services specialised services within the scope of the Commissioning Integration Directorate. Plans to achieve the strategy will be underpinned by the delivery of short to medium term objectives.

The post holder will be a key member of the regional direct commissioning leadership team contributing to the management and key decision making of the specialised commissioning regional function.

The post will ensure the operational delivery of all national strategies for mental health, learning disability and autism specialised services through the contracting process with providers for specialised mental health and acute specialised services. The post holder will also directly manage the acute mental health, learning disability and autism services commissioning teams and lead the day to day management of this function.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

The post holder will be responsible for establishing and leading collaborative commissioning of mental health, learning disability and autism services specialised services with Integrated Care Systems and Specialised Provider Alliances in line with national policy and guidance for the Midlands geography.
Salary Progression
Applicants will commence at the bottom of Band 9 with a full-time starting salary of £99,891, with a pay step increase after 5 years’ service.

These salaries are offered in accordance with NHS Terms and Conditions and the NHS Pay Progression Policy and are subject to annual cost of living review.
