Job description

We seek to appoint from September 2024 a registered and experienced School Counsellor to work part time at St Catherine’s School alongside the Lead Resident Clinical Psychologist (as immediate line manager) and Resident Clinical Psychologist, providing assessment and therapy to students and staff; as well as consultation and teaching. A further aim is to enhance the whole school community’s understanding of mental health and to create an even more open culture of awareness of this important topic. The appointed person will be a visible presence in school and known to all the staff and girls as an approachable expert. The person appointed will be approachable and empathetic, but also pragmatic in responding to the needs of individual students. It is important that there is liaison with staff and parents to create a team of practitioner, parent and school as a supportive and trusted network around the student. It is preferable that the appointed person is experienced in working with primary and senior school-aged pupils. It is essential that the successful candidate has registration or accreditation with BACP, or equivalent professional body, such as HCPC or UKCP, before starting the post. Clinical supervision will be provided by the Lead Psychologist. Closing date: 12 noon, Monday 18 March 2024
