Job description
Personal Assistant required to provide assistance to a 29 year old man with cerebral palsy who lives in Penicuik and relies on a wheelchair to get out and about. A Personal Assistant is required to work a Saturday 0945 to 1645. The job is to support the man to go out and about, for example to go see Scotland play rugby, go to cinema, shopping, museums or sometimes to stay in and play video games or watch Netflix.
It would be advantageous but not essential if the postholder has some experience of working with people with learning disabilities/autism. The job will include pushing a manual wheelchair so some physical fitness required. Good time keeping is essential and the postholder must be dog friendly. It would be helpful but not essential if the postholder has a full driving license valid in the UK. The postholder must be a member of the Protection of vulnerable groups (PVG) scheme or willing to join.
There is one Saturday per month that needs covered as the rest are already being covered by a small staff team. Hoping to find one person to cover this shift plus one worker to do relief work to cover staff sickness and holidays.
Rate of pay is £11.31 per hour.
