A local authority in Greater Manchester are recruiting for a Temporary Accommodation Officer to provide additional support within their supported housing services in the Oldham area.
The Role The focus of this Temporary Accommodation Officer is to provide a customer centred service dedicated to supporting residents of the Council's temporary accommodation and prioritise regular engagement with clients to ensure successful move on as outlined in agreed plans and processes.
This will include the following tasks and responsibilities:
- Housing Management Function : Arrange and maintain appropriate placements for temporary accommodation units, overseeing property management, void property clearance, repairs, tenancy, and furniture management in a timely manner.
- Collaboration and Advocacy : Work collaboratively with external and internal agencies, advocating and negotiating on behalf of vulnerable customers with complex needs to access services and engage in long-term housing options.
- Service Delivery : Provide high-standard housing and tenancy management services to homeless and vulnerable individuals, ensuring they can successfully sustain and manage their tenancies. Conduct housing, support, and risk assessments, producing support plans in collaboration with other agencies.
- Financial Health Checks : Perform personal financial health checks for customers to assess their ability to sustain tenancies. Provide debt and money management advice, ensuring adherence to income collection procedures for rent recovery. Identify entitlements to housing and welfare benefits, tax credits, and charitable grants.
- Customer Support and Advocacy : Conduct regular customer reviews, assist in securing suitable move-on accommodation, and make relevant referrals to statutory bodies and welfare services. Advocate on behalf of customers with external agencies, participate in multi-agency meetings, and support and organize events to fulfill the service's objectives.
The Candidate To be considered for this Temporary Accommodation Officer you will require housing related support experience but also great IT and office management skills to support with some of the administration functions around the service.
As this role will cover a couple of services, you will need to be a driver with access to a vehicle for work.
You will also require an enhanced DBS before you can commence the contract.
The Contract This Temporary Accommodation Officer is on an initial 3 month contract with a good chance of being extended or potentially going permanent.
The role is full time, working 9-5 Monday to Friday, and will primarily be working within the office but with occasional home working
