Job description
What you will do in your working day
- Machining of various materials to supplied engineering drawings and tolerances.
- Use of manual lathes, milling machines, drills, saws, and other traditional machines.
- Desiging, costing, planning, manufacture and assembly of jigs, rigs and fixtures.
- Material handling, including goods in/out, identification, quality checks and inspection measurements.
- Setup and changeover of complex test facilities.
- Development and setup of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Building electrical systems including harnesses and sensors of various types.
- Maintaining a safe and clean working environment for yourself and the team.
- Test facility maintenance and repair.
- Input to continuous improvement and problem resolution activities.
The training you will be getting
- Through a combination of day release at college, and on-the-job learning in the workplace, you will achieve a Level 3 Machining Technician qualification.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
- Upon completing the apprenticeship you will become a Technician.
- Progression from here can led to a Senior/Engineering Technician, and then Engineer, Project/Senior Engineer, and Principal Engineer.
- The Company will provide support to achieve the necessary qualifications required to progress into these roles.
