About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a SECTION ENGINEER to join our Regional team to work in Chertsey Surrey and the South of England.
What you'll be doing
You will have the following accountabilities:
- Produces site setting out plan/standards
- Carry out complex setting out
- Provision of primary setting out control and recognizes the optimum location for installation
- Coaches subordinates in the use of setting out techniques
- Coaches junior Engineers to ensure required setting out standards are maintained
- Produces Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)
- Actively uses the Specification as a reference document
- Maintains a comprehensive filing system of quality records
- Identifies, raises and actions Non Conformance Reports
- Identifies and raises Technical Queries with possible solutions
- Maintains Daily Diary and ensures Engineer/s maintain Daily Diary
- Produces/Reviews Method Statements and Risk Assessments
- Service Coordinator
- Ensures Safe Systems of Work are adhered to
- Input into weekly programme
- Communicates weekly programme and targets to the workforce
- Produces as built programme
Who we're looking for
You will have the following qualities and experience:
- Able to carry out complex setting out
- Understands and has experience of producing ITPs
- Understanding of construction tolerances
- Awareness of Specification and other Contract documents
- Knowledge of the requirements of BMS
- Understands Permit System and actively raises permits to Work
- Is able to identify potential hazards and is proactive in implementing actions and controls
- Understands three weekly rolling programme and can manage their resource appropriately
- Good understanding of key contract documentation & form of Contract
- Understands specific terms, conditions and outputs of relevant subcontractors and suppliers
