WHAT TO EXPECT
The purpose of this role is to lead the design integration, development, testing and launch of electrical oil pumps within the Electric Drive Unit Cooling & Lubrication squad.
The engineer will be responsible for engineering the technical content and integrity of the electric oil pumps across in-house Electric Drive Unit Programmes. The role will also deliver the component commodity plan to quality, cost and time working in conjunction with Jaguar Land Rover’s suppliers, manufacturing plants and other squads.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Within the cooling & lubrication squad, the Lead Engineer will have overall engineering accountability for the electric oil pumps developed in conjunction with the established supplier base.
Responsibilities will include:
Managing core technical knowledge
Design and CAE
Sign-off
•Completion of Design Review By Failure Mode (DRBFM)
•Identification of failure modes with high noise factor sensitivity and completion of Parameter Diagram (P-Diagram) and Robustness Checklist as required.
•Definition of and support of physical rig tests including test rig arrangements and operating conditions, in conjunction with the Development Team.
•Co-ordinate tear-down inspection and review of all test reports.
•Completion of the formal release process.
Commodity Plan and Supplier Management
•Development and appraisal of tier 1 supplier proposals.
•Support of supplier sourcing process.
•Leading and minuting regular supplier meetings.
•Planning and execution of design and release activities in the commodity plan.
Root cause investigation and resolution of engineering issues
•Root cause analysis and resolution of issues during development / launch / in production using 8D / Six Sigma Methodology.
•Travel to EDU prototype build and EDU plants to support build issues as well as Tier 1 suppliers (including internationally) to conduct launch reviews and support issue resolution.
•Management of issues in relevant system.
•Completion of Prevent Recurrence Actions.
