Job description
We are looking for a Clinical Practice Leader to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Beckton.
Cygnet Hospital Beckton is rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) with inspectors praising staff for their ‘safe, person-centred care’. The hospital is a gender specific hospital for women with complex mental health needs.
Situated in the East End of London, the hospital has four different specialist wards including PICU, acute admissions and personality disorder services.
The Clinical Practice Leader will lead others in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practice; with particular reference to the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. They will also assist in leading and monitoring the performance and work of nursing staff; supervising the work of Staff Nurses, Social therapists, Support Workers and student nurses.
The Clinical Practice Leader will deputise for the Service Manager in their absence.
The Clinical Practice Leader will ensure cost effective use of resources, maintain staff training and development and lead in an area of audit/service development. They will support the Service manager in ensuring that there are effective systems and processes for safe and effective care for service users and ensure that there are clear systems for service user and carer involvement in care delivery and in their own care.
The post holder would be required to undertake Senior Nurse bleep on a rota basis.
Main responsibilities incluce:
- To develop and maintain communication with individuals or groups of patients, carers and staff, about difficult or complex matters, overcoming any problems in communication in different situations.
- To actively seek out and promote best practices in care planning for & managing acute aggression and challenging behaviours
- To develop own knowledge and skills and contribute to the development of others.
- To promote, monitor and maintain best practice in health, safety and security of self and others in own work area.
- To appraise, interpret and apply suggestions, recommendations and directives to improve services.
- To contribute to quality improvement.
- To promote people’s equality, diversity and rights.
- To contribute to promoting health and well-being and preventing adverse effects or abuse on health and well-being of service users.
- To assess complex health and well-being needs and develop, monitor and review care-plans to meet those needs.
- To plan, deliver and evaluate care to address people’s complex health and well-being needs.
- To undertake tasks related to the assessment of physiological and/or psychological functioning.
- To assist in providing interventions and/or treatments.
- To monitor and maintain the flow of people and/or items.
- To modify, structure, maintain and present data and information.
- To monitor expenditure.
- To plan, allocate, supervise the work of a team.
- To contribute in measuring, monitoring and reporting agreed clinical outcomes
- To take charge of the ward and act in the absence of the ward manager.
- Provide skilled clinical and managerial supervision to the wider multi-disciplinary team.
- Use specialist knowledge to deal effectively with newly encountered clinical situations.
