Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary
Responsible for the day to day delivery of all building maintenance work, providing high quality service to Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.
Carry out a full range of multi-skilled building maintenance duties with the emphasis on building maintenance works at various Council properties cooperating with other trades and contractors to ensure completion of tasks..
Responsibilities
- Carry out the full range of multi-skilled repairs as required by Council. All preparation works to enable a high standard of work, complete work in compliance with Health and Safety Legislation and Construction and Building regulations.
- Reading plans, evaluating jobs, obtaining materials and completing tasks to timescales and also liaising with appropriate staff/contractors in relation to work being undertaken ensuring compliance with the Councils procurement policy.
- Plan and prioritise daily work tasks, ensuring all tasks are completed. To work with other trades, contractors and service users to ensure all specifications are met, legislation and policies adhered tom and to ensure efficient completion of projects

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Hold a current category C1plusE driving licence.
- Three years experience in the Building / Construction industry to include construction duties i.e. erection of fencing, concrete works, flagging and kerbing.
- Experience in the operation of manual and power tools i.e. concrete saws, angle grinder, generators.

Desirable Skills
- Hold a CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
