Job description

Prospero Teaching are seeking individuals who would like a career working as teaching assistant, supporting students with additional needs, such as Autism, SEMH or ADHD. Ideally you will have some previous experience working closely with children or adults with additional needs, but we also consider those with no experience of either but have a desire to start.

If you have done or are still doing roles such as, sports coach, before & after school club, youth club work, health care or are ex military then this role could be for you.

We are working closely with a large organisation in Wigan that offers education support to those with moderate and complex learning difficulties, autism, speech & language difficulties and Social, emotional & mental health difficulties. Please note, that at times students can display challenging behaviour.

The role is working in SEN Support and will consist of:
- Providing tailored support and working with children with SEMH and SEN (special education needs)
- Creating a safe environment that allows the children to have fun, learn and succeed
- Academic support of a 1:1 basis or in small groups
- Assisting the teacher

The Ideal Candidate:
- Teaching assistant qualification would be desired but not essential
- Experience of supporting pupils with SEN on a voluntary or paid basis OR
- Experience of working with children in a youth setting
- Safeguarding & FGM training issued in the last 12 months (training provided)
- Prevent awareness training issued in the last 3 years (training provided)

- Location - Wigan

- Contract Type - Temporary (with possible permanent opportunities)
- Minimum Daily Rate - £85
- Hours - 8.30-3.30pm (Term Time only) Monday - Friday
- Start Date - April 2024

You will be required to hold right to work to work in the UK, have an enhanced child & adult DBS that is on the update service or be willing to obtain one, and provided a minimum of 2 professional references.
