Job description
Airswift are currently recruiting for a Senior Contracts manager to join their project delivery team in Brentford on a 12 month contract basis.
To provide contract management expertise in contracting activities at a senior experienced level, where applicable in accordance with Project Execution Plans for contracting activities across a single or multiple projects and compliance with applicable business management systems for contracts management activities. In addition, the individual will have sound leadership skills and will have experience of undertaking review of contracts and subcontracts, providing advice in relation to contractual and commercial matters, setting up, drafting and gaining approval of contract plans and procedures, management of the entire procurement process (i.e. throughout the pre- and post-award periods) for complex engineering and construction works and managing a team.
- Performs all activities in accordance with the Client Way of Working and Client Management System and ensures compliance by allocated team members
- Ensures all internal Client & Customer policies and procedures (as applicable) are adhered to and manages change when required
- Ensures Project Contracts Management activities comply with Client and Customer standards and corporate governance, ethics and Project Policies and Procedures including Contract implementation and execution throughout the life of the project;
- Make recommendations regarding team size and structure;
- Optimise resource allocation within allocated team;
- Implement Client Integrity Framework within the Project Contracts function;
- Gains signature of all written correspondence to Contractors / subcontractors as well as the signature of minutes of meetings with contractors / subcontractors and other documents in accordance with Delegation of Authority;
- Ensures that all relevant documentation is properly filed and ultimately archived in accordance with Client Management System requirements.
- Ensures a high standard of housekeeping in own work area ;
- Observes HSE rules and procedures at all times and sets example to others;
- Reports hazards, accidents, property damage and substandard actions and conditions; and
- Participates in accident investigations.
The career profile of a successful Contracts operative may show qualification in a specific field of expertise which will contribute to all-round management capability. However, the emphasis in identifying a Contract Manager’s potential is centred on the illustration of proven capability and interest. Formal qualifications which indicate the suitability for Contracts Manager may include:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or Law (or equivalent)
- Member/Associate or Fellow of relevant recognised professional Institution (e.g. RICS) (preferred);
- Other qualifications in a relevant specialism (preferred).
Languages
- Fluent in written and spoken English .
Expertise
- Extensive experience of managing third party procurement, subcontracting and contracting
- Extensive experience of drafting contracts and other agreements
- Extensive experience of managing pre-contract processes (including pre-qualification, preparation of Invitations To Tender, evaluation of tenders, selection and award of contracts, etc);
- Extensive experience of managing all post-award processes (project / contract set-up (including systems), general contract administration, correspondence management, change control, claims avoidance and management, final accounting, dispute resolution, etc);
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing at all levels;
- Ability to cope in a complex and dynamic environment;
- Adept in the use of software and reporting systems (e.g. CRM (or similar), Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, TEAMS, etc.);
- Very strong ability to manage teams and service delivery;
- Has a participative leadership ethic;
- Ability to identify and meet internal and external customer needs;
- Very strong negotiation capability;
- Very strong relationships management skills;
- Very strong coaching and mentoring skills.
Professional knowledge
- Experience in the industrial engineering industry (e.g. mid-stream/upstream oil & gas, chemical, process plant, new energy and energy transition, etc);
- Excellent understanding of contractual risk, contract law, tortious liability and wider law as it applies to all aspects of Supply Chain Management;
- Extensive experience of published standard forms of contract (e.g. FIDIC, IChemE, LOGIC, NEC, etc) and bespoke forms of contract;
- Involvement in Contract Work Practices;
- Extensive experience of leading and managing a team of contracts professionals;
- Extensive experience of working without supervision;
- Sound knowledge of relevant statutes and the interpretation of commercial contracts;
- Understanding of construction methods, processes and concepts and the application of such knowledge including in particular in the context of risk;
- Basic ability to interpret relevant national industry codes and standards and Customer specifications;
- Strong working knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the discipline, and the basic requirements of other disciplines.
