The role

Dorking or Basingstoke
Hybrid
2 days per week in office

Our Registered Nurses provide timely, expert and professional medical information to our Claims Teams and other areas of the company as appropriate. They provide interpretation to assist in our risk assessment and the claims management processes. To be successful in this position you will:

• Be a Registered General Nurse (NMC) or Occupational Therapist (HCPC ) with diverse experience (e.g. within different disciplines, specialities, disability assessment or Occupational Health).
• Be able to analyse and interpret complex verbal & non-verbal medical information.
• Be able to explain medical conditions, terminology providing recovery expectations to both medical & non-medical colleagues, so that they are able to make informed decisions.
• Strong communication skills both verbally and in written format including report writing skills.
• Apply medical knowledge to determine functional capacity through assessment of medical and other data related to impairment, regarding accuracy of diagnoses, treatment plans, duration guidelines, and prognosis.
• Undertake contact calls to claimants to assist in expediting claims decisions. Establish current medical and functional situation whilst addressing relevant questions where identified by the claims assessor, and request any relevant medical evidence where required.
• Manage a caseload of referrals and prioritise workload
• Work autonomously and collaboratively as a team.
• Undertake detailed and in-depth file reviews when required which answer the questions posed by the claims assessor focusing on identifying functional restrictions and limitations along with recovery expectations.
• Undertake mortality assessments in order to input for calculation of settlement offers.
