Are you looking for a number 1 finance role within a highly successful, high growth and profitable SME? A role where you will work closely with the owners contributing to the strategic direction of the business, advising on key business decisions?
This is a Group Financial Controller position working as the number 1 in finance - leading and developing the finance team, overseeing all financial controls and working closely with the board of directors to contribute to driving the business forward.
The business is highly successful and profitable SME operating in the engineering sector. The group currently comprises of 3 companies, but is fast growing both organically and through further upcoming acquisitions!
Working autonomously this role will take full ownership of the finance function for the group, with a focus on developing and upskilling the finance team, as well as working closely with the board advising on strategy and M&A.
The is a role you can truly "make your own" as the lead finance individual for an ambitious group of companies on the upward trajectory of growth. The role would be ideally suited to a driven, career focused and commercially minded SME Financial Controller who enjoys being hands on day to day, as well adding value at the highest level of a business.
Reporting to the CEO, the key duties of the role will include:
- Leading and coaching the finance team of 4-5 staff - monitoring performance, identifying and recruiting talented individuals as the business continues to grow, and succession planning for potential future skills gaps.
- Participating in regular board and senior management discussions, contributing to areas of strategy, M&A and staff development.
- Financial control for all entities (3 companies)
- Taking the lead on development and improvements of the financial systems and processes
- Overseeing the daily banking, credit control and payroll
- Management reporting
- Budgeting and forecasting
- VAT returns
- Statutory reporting
- Liaising with external accountants as the main point of contact for the audit
- Ad hoc analysis and reporting as required by the CEO and Board
The successful candidate will:- Be ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with relevant PQE experience - Essential
- Have previous experience of managing and coaching a finance team - Essential
- Have a strong commercial/business acumen, and the ability to work autonomously alongside senior non-finance stakeholders - Essential
- Have existing knowledge of SAP and Sage systems - Desirable
