Job description

At evaluagent we are looking for our next home-based Lead QA Engineer! 

As the Lead QA Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our products. You will lead a team of test analysts, develop testing strategies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. Your expertise will drive continuous improvement in our testing processes and methodologies, ultimately contributing to the success of our products and the satisfaction of our customers.

Overview:

Salary -  In the region of £55,000 - £60,000, negotiable based on experience

Location -  Home based in the UK

Type  - Full-time, 40 hours, Permanent

Reports to  - Head of Engineering

Direct reports -   x3 QA Engineers

Following a recent $20m Series A funding round, we're poised for exponential growth, having recently launched our refreshed AI-fuelled SaaS platform in 2024.

 

Key Responsibilities :

• Lead and mentor a team of QA Engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise to ensure high-quality testing practices and deliverables.
• Work closely with developers, product managers, and QA engineers to understand project requirements and design testing strategies that align with business objectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address testability
• issues within the development process, including improving test environments and ensuring adequate test coverage.
• Maintain best practices and standards for the automated test.
• Perform hands-on testing of applications, identify defects, and collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Work on client integrations, utilising mocking technologies such as Wiremock to enable automated regression testing.
• Identify and collaboratively resolve scalability issues through performance testing and analysis, utilizing tools such as Datadog to monitor and optimize system performance.
• Monitor defects and provide reporting capabilities to identify and communicate quality concerns.
• Facilitate regular defect and triage review meetings with Product Managers, Customer Support and the wider business to ensure issues are being resolved in a timely manner.
• Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and trends in software testing, and recommend process improvements to enhance testing methodologies.

About You:

Our ideal candidate will have:

• The right to work, and have a permanent address / be currently living in, the UK (mandatory).
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; relevant certifications (ISTQB, CSTE) are a plus.
• Minimum 2 years of experience leading and managing a test team.
• 3 year's+ experience working within a test analyst role with extensive automated testing experience.
• Experience with test automation, API testing (Apache JMeter and Postman), and PHP Laravel applications.
• Knowledge of distributed architectures, Single Page Applications, AWS, NoSQL (MongoDB), SQL (MySQL), Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (Jenkins & Docker).
• Familiarity with defect tracking/reporting systems (e.g. Jira) and agile methodologies.
• Experience of influencing overall development with a view to improve testability.
• Experience of developing a Quality / Testing strategy. 
• Experience of working within agile methodologies, work prioritisation and the importance of iterative working code. 
• Excellent leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor a diverse team.
• Experience and confidence in all areas of performance management.
• Genuine interest in the B2B SaaS industry and software quality.
