Speech and Language Teaching Assistant

A SEND Primary school in the heart of Coventry are actively looking for a new speech and language specialist teaching assistant to join their school on a full time basis.

The role will start immediately and will be ongoing for the remaining academic year.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting the class teacher with all activities
• Supporting pupils with Speech, Language and Communication difficulties
• Creating a positive environment where all pupils can excel and learn creatively
• Observing and assessing individual pupil development

Requirements:

• Experience and understanding of working with children with autism, speech delays, communication difficulties and mild to moderate behavioural difficulties.
• This role does not require a CACHE qualified teaching assistant but experience of supporting children with additional needs is a necessity.
• It would be beneficial to have an understanding of Makaton, BSL and other forms of non-verbal communication.
• The ability to communicate effectively with young children
• An understanding of supporting additional learning needs
• Commitment for a minimum of 2 terms
