Job description

We are looking for a Senior Sustainability Consultant to work within a Chartered Building Services Engineering Consultancy in Preston. This is an opportunity to become the Lead Engineer and as the demand for services grows within the business from its client base there is then an opportunity to grow a team and this is the ambition of the business. The growth of the team needs to be organic and measured and in line with work won but with work already lined up from Blue Chip organisations and various frameworks, you will be able to hit the ground running, be client facing from get go and focus on delivery of projects.

The advantage of working for this consultancy is that you will be trusted to work with the client from your first project. Their way of working includes trusting all engineers to work client side and this opportunity will be no different. Winning work is not an essential for this role but would not be dismissed and experience of working within their core sectors but would an added advantage, these include but are not limited to; Healthcare, Education, Industrial and Commercial.


Your Skillset as a Senior Sustainability Consultant must include:

• Knowledge of Energy and Carbon reduction, carbon plans and strategy, master planning, net zero advice and demand reduction.
• Undertake LCA to evaluate building's environmental impact from construction through operation and eventual end-of-life.
• Working knowledge of sustainability technology including Solar PV, Heat Pumps, CHP, District Heating etc.
• Prepare Decarbonisation assessments.
• Ability to write Sustainability reports, Energy & Sustainability Statements
• Knowledge of BREEAM, WELL, LEED Assessments
• Knowledge of Building Physics and Thermal Modelling software (TAS or IES)
• Able to do site surveys, develop a brief and be client facing throughout the project cycle
• Able to collaborate with Architects and Engineers to find the best project solutions.
• Strong Communication skills
