Early Years Maternity Cover (Temporary Contract)

International School of Milan

Location

Italy | United Kingdom

Job description

The International School of Milan is seeking an Early Years / Lower Elementary Teacher to cover a maternity leave for approximately 1 year, starting in August 2024.

As an IB continuum school (PYP-MYP-DP), we especially welcome expressions of interest from teachers with previous IB experience. However, we also welcome applications from well-qualified teachers who are committed to high standards, interested in using innovative approaches to learning, and enthusiastic about promoting international understanding.

We are keen to hear from teachers with a strong background in the Early Years phase. Please very clearly indicate your teaching experience across the Early Years and Elementary age ranges, within your CV and letter of application.

The final deadline for applications is Friday March 15th. However, an early application is definitely advised, as we will begin interviewing strong applicants as soon as possible, and reserve the right to make an appointment prior to the closing date.

The position

We are seeking to appoint an Early Years or Lower Elementary Teacher to join the school on a temporary Maternity contract. As a teacher in the school, the successful candidate will be skilled in teaching a range of abilities and would work within our excellent Primary section.

We strongly value a growth mindset at IS Milan, with ongoing professional reflection and development a core expectation for all staff. Whilst previous experience of the IB PYP programme is always advantageous, we are also very interested in applicants who are seeking to develop their experience through acquiring PYP expertise. Initial PYP training will be provided to the successful applicant, who will be expected to continue to show innovation and creativity in the pursuit of ever higher standards of teaching and learning, throughout their IS Milan careers. The IB Learner Profile is at the core of our school’s philosophy: our staff model this every day, through their teaching and through the strong relationships they build with our students. Global citizenship, a respect for diversity, and inclusive teaching, are central to everything we do.

Key responsibilities:

The teacher accepting this role will work in an Early Years classroom as the class teacher. Teachers at ISM embrace diversity, within our international setting, ensuring that learning is inclusive of students of all nationalities, profiles and linguistic abilities. They ensure that student agency is at the centre of the learning experience, encouraging innovation and creativity, within a caring and principled learning environment.

The ideal candidate will have:

- enthusiasm and passion for teaching, with the ability to motivate students of all abilities;

- a university degree in a relevant subject;

- an appropriate teaching qualification;

- recent experience successfully teaching their subject within a relevant age range;

- a commitment to professional growth and development.

How to apply

When apply please include the following:

• Cover Letter which clearly outlines why you are interested in the role and in the school;

• CV with photo;

• Contact details of referees, one of which must be the Head/Director from current/most recent appointment.

We will begin interviewing strong applicants as soon as possible, and reserve the right to make an appointment prior to the closing date.
