Technician (Highways & Civils) (Contract)
Location: Winchester
Hourly Rate: £20-35ph
Start Date: 02/04/2024
Duration: Until end September 2024, then on a 6 monthly rolling basis
Closing Date: 14/03/2023

Role Summary:
As a Technician specialising in Highways & Civils, you will play a crucial role in preparing technical design drawings, assisting in information collection, and liaising with relevant bodies to ensure project success. You will contribute to budget assessments, prioritise workload, and assist in design solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare technical design drawings/models and contract documents for highway projects and improvements.
• Assist in the collection, assessment, and impartation of essential information for scheme preparation.
• Assist in the preparation of estimates for budget assessment and monitoring.
• Liaise with relevant bodies and visit sites to provide solutions to construction issues.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• RQF Level 4 in Civil Engineering or equivalent (or working towards this qualification).
• Some experience in the design of highway, infrastructure, or civil engineering projects.
• Some experience in preparing highway maintenance and design schemes.
• Experience using CAD software (e.g., Civil 3D, MX, AutoCAD).
• Some experience with drainage modelling software preferable.

Decision Making Areas:

• Assisting with design solutions and interpreting design briefs.
• Prioritising own workload.

Working Conditions:

• Hybrid working (home and office).
• Occasional accompanied visits to live highways and construction sites.
• Ability to fulfil travel requirements associated with the role.
