Job description
Welcome from the Maths Curriculum Team
Thank you for your interest in this position at Eggar’s School within the Maths Department.
We are an ambitious Maths Department, always striving for the best outcomes for the students. We have built consistently on our results over the last few years and have achieved a positive progress 8 score well above the school’s progress 8 score. We are always seeking new ways and means to help our students learn more about maths and develop a deep-seated curiosity about how it relates to the world they live in. We have a strong team of subject specialists at all stages of their careers and work well together, focused on delivering the best experiences for young people. We are friendly and supportive of each other, as well as innovative and forward thinking, sharing ideas and experiences that help develop the curriculum and the way we teach it.
The Maths Department has superb facilities and is well resourced, including interactive touch screens (whiteboards). The Maths department’s vision statement is:
‘The world is full of Maths! It’s how we tell the time, measure distance, and pay for things. Maths is part of the way we think and organise our lives. Maths is the study of numbers and problem solving. In Maths students learn how to use a range of mathematical skills to solve problems, think analytically and better understand the world around them. Mathematical skills are transferable to all subject areas and essential for further study and work.’
The development of our team is important. We help with coaching and mentoring and have expertise in teacher training and development. We are on an exciting journey and look forward to you joining us as we continue to strive to achieve our ambitions for the Department and our students. We wish all applicants the very best of luck with their application and look forward to meeting short listed candidates at interview.
