Job description
A fantastic opportunity to join our client as an Equipment Support Engineer as part of their Onshore Support Group who deal with all aspects of vessel and asset management. This role is offered on a full time permanent basis.
The Equipment Support Engineer will be a key contact in the team to support the company's offshore assets and be responsible for the development of any operational support systems/ methods required for vessel active readiness and mobilisation. They will also be responsible for developing positive relationships between onshore support and offshore operations. This role will have some requirement to attend worksites and shipyards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as the Equipment Support Engineer for assigned vessel or asset portfolio.
- Shore based company "focal point" for vessel lay equipment support for designated vessel worksites, advise projects and BA of lay equipment capabilities.
- The upkeep and readiness of all documentation relating to the equipment including: Risk Assessments, Equipment Operating Procedures, Maintenance Tasks, Working at Height, PMS, Weekly / Monthly Reports and ensure these are properly presented and available.
- Collaborate with other Equipment Support Engineers, facilitating open dialogue to share lessons learned and promote synergies.
- Preparing technical reports on equipment performance, maintenance and operation.
- Produce and expedite equipment M&R purchase requirements.
- Produce and develop Equipment Technical Specifications and manuals.
- Assisting in developing annual maintenance and improvement budgets.
- Ensuring accurate records are held relating to maintenance and failures on equipment and follow up of improvement plans or modifications.
- Manage lay vessel track record overview and database/spreadsheet.
- Conduct and participate in vessel / assets inspections and audits from time to time to verify support systems are working with the vessel/technical crew and the equipment in an effective way.
- Maintain efficient spares for equipment in accordance with critical spares review procedure.
- Plan adequate manning levels for equipment maintenance, operations and mobilisations in conjunction with offshore crewing.
- Communicate offshore technical crewing rotations to offshore crewing.
- Plan and co-ordinate the training, competence and development of Offshore Technicians in the operation and maintenance of company equipment, ensure any matrix updates are communicated effectively to offshore crewing.
- From time to time when new assets are delivered in to operations; support the company's internal project with interface knowledge and assistance to get the new asset in to first operations.
- Occasionally visit offshore / vessel / 3rd party / shipyard worksites as required from time to time. It is envisaged that the first 6 months of this role will have a higher than normal activity level onsite.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Experience with vessel equipment. And mobilization/installation of first-use or new build equipment.
- Expectation to have experience on the following equipment, which includes, but is not limited to, Vertical or Horizontal Lay Systems, Carousels, Tensioners, Reel Drive Systems and miscellaneous lay / construction equipment.
- Several years operational worksite experience in a supervisory role.
- Proven experience of fault-finding and technical problem solving.
- Electrical discipline / competence preferred however are also keen to see applications with a mechanical background.
- Extensive trade experience after completion of apprenticeship within an Electrical (or Mechanical) position.
- Ability to perform under high pressure and meet deadlines.
- Flexibility and a team player.
Desirable
- Experience of a similar or previous vessel support role.
- Experience of subsea construction and lay vessel project activities.
- Experience of diverse offshore equipment.
- Experience of equipment design processes.
- HNC or equivalent within a relevant Electrical or Mechanical discipline.
