Interim Finance Assistant/Admin - Children’s Service

Job Ref: Bradford 5245623

Pay Rate: £25.00 per hour PAYE

Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday normal working hours

Role Length: This opening assignment is for 6 months

City: Bradford, Yorkshire

The post will involve providing financial advice and support to stakeholders, including involvement in finance meetings with budget holders to enable them to effectively manage their budgets.

The position requires experience of working in a finance role including operating or auditing computerised or manual financial systems. The ability to use a range of computer applications is an essential part of this role including spreadsheets, word processing, databases, presentation software, internet and e-mail.

The role will involve budget setting, monitoring and reporting, support to budget holders/operators through regular budget meetings and development of more efficient and effective process to deliver management information.

The post holder will also assist the Principal Finance Officer in the production of the Council’s Statement of Accounts, related working papers and audit documentation.

Qualifications:

4 GCSE’s including Maths and English, at Grade C or above, or equivalent qualification.
AAT Level 2 - Foundation Certificate in Accounting.

Skills & Experience:

Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Experience of providing financial advice and guidance to customers.
Practical knowledge of using financial systems including General Ledger and Business Intelligence software.
Able to prepare accurate and timely financial management information.
Able to prepare and submit and/or audit complex grant claims and returns that meet the statutory body/funding body and audit requirements
Reconciliation of actuals to forecast projections.
Able to develop and support initiatives that seek to improve working practices, systems and processes to support improved VFM and meet service priorities
Able to manage, develop and keep up to date procedure manuals and notes.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
