About the Role
Surrey County Council offers an accredited cycle training scheme. As a new Instructor, you will observe and receive training from experienced Instructors delivering courses. You will then be a 'third' Instructor to help build your confidence and skills and after that, you will co-instruct. A reward of the job is seeing how your riders progress!
Most of our training is delivered by Instructors working in pairs at schools and is both playground and on-the-road training. A playground Level 1 course, with riders aged 8, is usually taught over a single working day. The Level 2 course, which is taught on the road, usually runs Monday to Friday teaching 10-year-olds. We are also expanding our community cycle training offer to young people and adults.
With a bank contract, work is offered using a calendar system and you will be able to enter any periods you are not available for work. The amount of work you will be offered will depend on the number of requests for training we receive, some periods are busier than others.
With an annualised hours contract, you will be paid a monthly salary. Your work schedule will be programmed for you and there is no commitment to work in school holidays. Your hours in any one week might vary, but your monthly salary is constant. The total work hours will match your contracted hours each calendar year.
