Economics Teacher

Tormead School

Location

Surrey | United Kingdom

Job description

Full-time or Part-Time

We are seeking an inspirational teacher of Economics to join this thriving and well-established department. The successful candidate will be well-qualified and energetic, building on the strengths of the department to develop new and exciting initiatives.

Economics is currently taught in the Sixth Form as a linear A-level and the department currently uses the AQA Economics syllabus. The course is very applied in its analysis of micro and macro-economic theories, to resolve current economic issues.

There is a healthy cohort of students who opt to study A Level Economics on a regular basis, and it is not unusual for there to be two sets within a year group. Students achieve high grades with several choosing to continue their studies in Economics, PPE, Management, and Finance at leading Russell Group universities.

The post will suit an ambitious teacher looking to develop their career.

A commitment to full participation in the extra-curricular life of this thriving school is expected; the school has a long-established reputation in the Young Enterprise scheme as a co-curricular Economics Department activity, for example.

To apply for this role please complete the application and equal opportunities form found on the website along with an accompanying letter addressed to Mr David Boyd (Head) and send to [email protected]

Closing date:  9 am, Tuesday 12 March 2024 and interviews will take place the following week.

Early applications are encouraged as we reserve the right to interview on receipt of application.

Tormead School is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of its pupils and all staff must share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check and other Child Protection screening including checks with past employers. The post holder must adhere to the School’s Child Protection Policy at all times including attending mandatory training every three years.
