JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 6 year old boy living in the Rhigos area with my family. I am a very happy young boy who is always smiling. I love being on my phone or iPad and take them everywhere with me, I especially love to watch YouTube. I also love McDonalds and KFC and try my best to get my mother to stop off there if we drive past one of them.

I have a diagnosis of Autism and global development delay. I am starting to speak now and can say words to indicate what I want.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The aim of the job is to try and get me out of the house and into the community. To help me to undertake social activities such as going to the park, going out to get food and hopefully building up to taking me swimming.

HOURS OF WORK

I require 2:1 support and have 3 hours available. (3 hours per PA).

These hours would be worked on the weekends or in the school holidays with some flexibility.

RATES OF PAY

£11.30 per hour

40p per mile where applicable

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

· Taking me out into the community to do activities I enjoy. This can include:

o Aberdare Park – especially the splash park.

o Dragons Den soft play.

o Taking me swimming, Glynneath or Aberdare.

· Taking me for food in McDonalds or KFC.

· Changing my nappies when out if required.

· Ensuring my safety at all times by holding my hand. I can run off.

· Using my special needs buggy which can help you to leave certain activities easier.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

· A driver with business class insurance.

· Someone who has some experience of working with children with learning difficulties.

· A patient person.

· Someone who can keep up with me.

· Someone with an outgoing personality.

ABOUT THE JOB

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
