Agricultural Farm Foreman
Location: Bibury, Gloucestershire
About Us:
We are a dynamic and progressive mixed arable and beef farm spanning 3,000 acres in the Cotswolds with a commitment to excellence, sustainability, and environmental stewardship, we are seeking a highly skilled Farm Foreman to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in driving our farm's productivity and strategic direction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working day-to-day with the farm owner, who is the existing manager.
- Operate and manage the Claas combine and Sands 30m sprayer, ensuring efficient and effective use to optimise crop yields.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of environmental schemes and apply best practices to enhance the farm's sustainability and environmental footprint.
- Play an active part in the management of the suckler beef herd, including knowledge of rotational grazing systems.
- Lead and manage farm staff, being a team player, fostering a positive work environment and ensuring high levels of productivity and teamwork.
- Contribute to farm strategy planning, offering innovative ideas and approaches to improve farm operations, profitability, and sustainability.
- Manage and oversee arable operations, ensuring adherence to agronomic best practices and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Monitor and manage farm resources, including machinery, inputs, and labour, to ensure optimal efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
- At least five years of experience in an arable farming enterprise.
- Proven ability in operating farm machinery, specifically combines and sprayers. Ideally have PA1,2 and 4 as well as other telehandler training.
- Strong knowledge of environmental schemes and a passion for sustainable farming practices.
- Excellent man-management skills, with a proven track record of leading and motivating teams.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to contribute to long-term planning and decision-making.
- Effective communicator, capable of working collaboratively with the farm workers and current suppliers.
- A progressive mindset, constantly seeking ways to innovate and improve farm operations.
- Relevant agricultural qualifications are desirable but not essential.
