Job description

At Nescot, we are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable IT Systems Engineer to support in the colleges infrastructure and cloud environment.

The post will focus heavily on the management and continuous maintenance of the colleges every growing on prem infrastructure. The post-holder will have detailed knowledge of Windows server environments, Microsoft Doman Services, On Prem switching and routing and implementing best practices across the college whilst giving direction and support to other team members. The post will also act as third-line IT support for the college.

The of Duties will include installation, configuration, maintenance and repair of the server environment, management of some aspects to the switching and on prem server solutions, Integration with third party systems/software and general IT Support. You will be expected to help support and maintain the College cloud infrastructure environments, where needed. The Candidate will have strong background in administering on site domain services. You will also be required to support, update and maintain appropriate system documentation.

We are looking for a person with a Can Do attitude and an approachable manner in order to advise on and promote services for the support of teaching and learning, ensuring that these are always implemented with security in mind.

The IT Systems Engineer will work closely with the Network Manager and the third line team to ensure the best possible IT experience for all stakeholders in the college. The IT Systems Engineer will help with the provision of day-to-day hardware/software support and network support in respect of the College ICT facilities and server environment.

You must be educated to degree/graduate level or equivalent. Microsoft qualifications would be advantageous. Previous experience in the maintenance and support of a Microsoft cloud environment is essential, as well as working in a customer facing support department.
