Job description
The Grants and Events Specialist at the Blue Magpie Foundation (BMF) is a key member of the fundraising team responsible for securing grants and managing fundraising events.
What will you be doing?This role plays a critical part in generating financial support for BMF's programmes and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Grant Management:
- Research potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporate donors.
- Prepare, write, and submit compelling grant proposals and applications.
- Maintain a database of grant applications, deadlines, and outcomes.
- Collaborate with programme managers to gather information and data necessary for grant proposals.
2. Fundraising Event Coordination:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events, including galas, charity auctions, and community fundraisers.
- Oversee event logistics, including venue selection, catering, entertainment, and technical requirements.
- Manage event budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with volunteers and team members to ensure the success of events.
3. Donor Engagement:
- Cultivate relationships with current and potential donors.
- Acknowledge and express gratitude to donors through personalised communication.
- Assist in developing donor stewardship strategies to maintain long-term relationships.
4. Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare regular reports on grant activities, event outcomes, and fundraising progress.
- Maintain accurate records of donor interactions, donations, and event details.
- Ensure compliance with all grant requirements and reporting deadlines.
5. Research and Trend Analysis:
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and funding opportunities.
- Conduct research on donor preferences and market conditions to tailor fundraising strategies.

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as nonprofit management, communications, or business).
- Proven experience in grant writing and successful grant application submissions.
- Event planning and coordination experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
