Job description
Interview date: Week commencing 8 April 2024
Information Governance – Shaping Information Compliance As a Senior Information Governance Officer (SIGO), you will play a critical role in safeguarding our organization’s information. Your primary focus will be on ensuring compliance with information management legislation and policies, assessing risks, and implementing effective controls. This position requires a technical understanding of data protection and freedom of information legislation together with in-depth awareness and knowledge of cyber security principles, and risk management. We are looking for someone with significant experience of working in the Information Governance arena, not a cyber security expert. However, Knowledge of national or international standards such as ISO27000, Cyber Essentials or the Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF) will be an advantage. The Council has written a Cyber Security Strategy 2023-2030, which sets out the aims and objectives of becoming resilient. You will work alongside the Information Assurance lead and support her in delivering this strategy, alongside the other generalist IG parts of the role. This will include managing a diverse caseload of information requests, under the data protection and freedom of information legislation. You will also work alongside another SIGO in the same role, as well as support the Council’s Data Protection Officer and the Information Assurance Lead, in identifying and dealing with data incidents. Whilst the role will be generalist across all aspects of Information Governance. You will have a particular focus on Information Assurance and support the Lead in collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure organisational risk is considered and recorded in all IG decision making actions.
