Job Purpose:

Working within the AALTO Test & Analysis team, the successful candidate will work closely with the Test & Analysis Manager and wider test team to manage the delivery of a comprehensive ground test environment and toolset for the Zephyr Uncrewed Air System (UAS).

The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of ground based verification testing of the integrated Zephyr air system in support of development and certification efforts, such as: airframe structural testing, and avionic systems rig testing. In addition, the Verification Test Engineer shall work closely with the Flight Test Engineering team to define and manage Flight Test Instrumentation, closely linked with the wider test environment.

Working predominantly from Farnborough, UK, this role may see the successful candidate deploy within the UK and remote overseas locations on a limited basis.

Responsibilities:

· Deliver and manage ground-based verification testing of the Zephyr air system

· Define and establish a test environment suitable for Zephyr development and certification data gathering and verification

· Work with the wider test team to define and manage instrumentation systems (including Flight Test Instrumentation) and data reduction

· Work with engineers and technicians to integrate new systems for test

· Assist with the management and development of organisational governance and novel test procedures and practices

· Share and develop best practice to enhance the Test & Evaluation of the Zephyr air system

Essential Experience and Qualifications:

· Educated to degree level or higher in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent work experience

· Demonstrable experience in aeronautical test engineering environments such as: airframe structural testing, avionics and system integration, environmental verification (vibration, temperature & electromagnetic)

· Experience in aircraft certification testing in a Part 21J environment

· Excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills

· Ability to make and implement complex technical decisions under pressure in a small-team environment

Desirable Experience and Qualifications:

· Knowledge and understanding of UK CAA or EASA fixed-wing certification standards

· Experience with complex or large UAS

· Knowledge of and experience with COTS or bespoke instrumentation software (i.e. IADS)

· Experience with MATLAB, C++ or other relevant programming language

· Capable of explaining technical details to customers in a concise and expert manner
