Head of Communications Job in Winchester, Hampshire
Our client has a Head of Communications job available in Winchester, Hampshire. You will lead communications for a prestigious architectural practice. Drive PR, marketing, and brand development, collaborating with leadership to shape strategy and elevate the practice's global profile.
The practice's portfolio of projects ranges from beautiful historical buildings and private homes to commercial properties, masterplans, and major housing developments.
Over the years they have developed an international reputation for their work.
Due to continued success and long–term business plan, they have the new role for a Head of Communications to join the team.
Role & Responsibilities
Business Development
- Collaborate with the Executive Board on a strategic approach for business growth
- Develop an annual communications strategy with external agencies for profile enhancement
- Consult with sector leaders regularly to review strategy and bid activity.
Networking and Client Relationships
- Network with key press, professional bodies, and representatives for business opportunities
- Manage events in alliance with the PR & marketing team
- Support client relationship maintenance.
Brand and Identity
- Evolve the practice's culture, strengths, and values with the Executive Board
- Work with external agencies for an effective brand identity
- Implement and coordinate the brand image externally, including on social media.
PR and Marketing Communications
- Collaborate with external agencies and internal teams
- Align communications with the business strategy, image, and values
- Oversee production of in–house communications, case studies, speeches, and reports
- Develop collateral for target audiences in line with marketing strategy
- Manage the practice's website evolution.
Event Presence and Crisis Management
- Boost the practice's presence at international events
- Seek profile development opportunities through external events and campaigns
- Manage PR aspects in potential crisis situations.
Systems and Management
- Oversee external agency work and media briefings.
- Monitor media and report metrics.
- Set and maintain the annual communications budget
- Manage the practice's image/asset database.
- Please note the role will require you to also visit the London office on a regular basis.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strategic thinker with strong project management skills, actively engaged in day–to–day tasks
- Confident communicator and writer with diverse experience in top–level media relations and marketing strategies across political issues, social affairs, architecture, and arts, boasting a wide network of contacts
- Proven ability to deliver successful press coverage in the UK and internationally, orchestrating well–structured campaigns with external agencies for impactful build–up to key events, launches, and project competitions
- Background in working within an architectural practice or a similar sector
- Proficient in relevant IT applications and technologies, essential tools of the trade
- Accomplished writer for various audiences, including international press articles, press conference documentation, internal reports, competition brochures, keynote speeches, and publications essays
- Demonstrated expertise in crisis management strategies
- Meticulous attention to detail and a strong sense of presentation
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to build confident teams, provide support and mentorship, and navigate necessary changes in team direction.
